Dear Margot Kaye,
Since there was no disputing what you figured (non tax related) and considering you’ve begun pulling responsive documents, I have no objection to receiving such in piecemeal for example starting from 2010 through 2015 immediately as soon as possible and then 2016 to present in the following 7-10 days. In fact it would be extremely helpful to do so also considering this request is now being delayed. By law, Town of Morristown should have provided responsive documents by December 14, 2020.

Good afternoon -
I am in receipt of your OPRA request dated November 24, 2020 (our file no.
20-854). In your request, you seek the following:
“…all settlement agreements and notices of tort/summons/complaints from
Jan 1, 2010 to the present”.
I have reviewed my electronic file for 2020 and have attached the
responsive documentation with all personal information redacted.
It took approximately 4.5 hours to review and redact twenty-three (23)
files consisting of 294 pages. For the remaining ten (10) years
requested, I estimate a special service charge of $1,025.55. For the
years 2010-2018, there will also be an additional charge of $.05/page for
those hard-copy records that must be duplicated prior to redaction.
Please advise whether you consent to the above fees. If so, be advised
that a deposit will be required along with additional time to satisfy the
request.

To avoid any special service charges, I no longer seek copies of notices of torte. At this time I’d like to amend my original request for records to include only litigation related settlement agreements, summons and complaints. As such publicly-filed court records are ordinarily not subject to redactions under OPRA.
