Police Report & BWC Video
Dear Edison Township Police Department,
Please accept this electronic request for public records made under OPRA and the common law right of access. I am not required to fill out an official form or use a particular software platform to submit my request per NJSA 47:1A-5(f), which states that an email from a requestor including all of the information required on the adopted form shall suffice in place of a completed form as a valid government record request.
I HAVE NOT been convicted of any indictable offense under the laws of New Jersey, any other state, or the United States.
I WILL NOT use the requested government records for a commercial purpose.
I AM NOT seeking records in connection with a legal proceeding.

My preferred delivery method for response(s) to this request is by E-mail as attachments. Please confirm you have received this request. If you are not the custodian of records, please forward my request to that person and provide their email address to me for future reference.

Attached you will find the service charge fee that was prepared to help complete your voluminous OPRA request to obtain the BWC associated with the incident 22058612. In order to fulfill your OPRA request, we ask for half the payment up front ($2,802.32) via certified check made out to the Township of Edison and please note in memo “BWC {22058612}.” If I am able to complete the request in a shorter time frame, I will advise and I will adjust the service fee accordingly. Once we have received the payment requested, we will begin your request and I will provide you with an expected completion date and remainder of the payment upon completion.
Please advise if you want to continue with the service fee at this time so we can proceed forth with fulfilling said request.

Honestly, not anticipating the cost would be anywhere near that (and it not being of much importance to me anyway), I'll retract the request for the BWC. May I still have the incident report and relevant arrest/booking report as well though?

There is a voluminous amount of BWC pertaining to this incident at this time. The service fees are only applied based on an estimated amount of time it would take to go through the footage to make sure all appropriate redactions, both audio and visual, are to be made. Attached you will find the IR and Arrest record pertaining to this incident. Due to citizen's expectation of privacy under NJSA 47:1A-1.1, pedigree (ie: residential numeric, partial DOB, SSN, phone number, reg.) was redacted throughout the reports.
If you have any concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out.
