Dear Spring Lake Heights Borough,
This is a request for public records made under OPRA and the common law right of access. I am not required to fill out an official form. Please acknowledge receipt of this message.
Records requested:
1. "copies of email logs for the municipality's police chief from December 1, 2023 to January 31, 2024. Please include sender, recipient, date and subject."
2. "copies of email logs for the municipality's mayor from December 1, 2023 to January 31, 2024. Please include sender, recipient, date and subject."
Please see the Paff v. Township of Galloway Supreme Court decision from 2017, which held this is a valid request.

I am in receipt of your Open Public Records Request received via email on
February 2, 2024 at 10:42am for the following:
1. "copies of email logs for the municipality's police chief from December
1, 2023 to January 31, 2024. Please include sender, recipient, date and
subject."
2. "copies of email logs for the municipality's mayor from December 1,
2023 to January 31, 2024. Please include sender, recipient, date and
subject."
We have been advised that these logs contain thousands of emails to the 2
parties. As you can imagine, review of those logs to ensure proper
redaction, if any, will take some time. Our Borough Attorney is on
vacation beginning Feb 13 and returning Feb 20.
I am respectfully requesting an extension of time to deliver the requested
information. I should be prepared to deliver the same by Friday, February
23, 2024.
