Dear Cranford Township,

Please accept this electronic request for public records made under OPRA and the common law right of access. I am not required to fill out an official form or use a particular software platform to submit my request per NJSA 47:1A-5(f), which states that an email from a requestor including all of the information required on the adopted form shall suffice in place of a completed form as a valid government record request.

I HAVE NOT been convicted of any indictable offense under the laws of New Jersey, any other state, or the United States.

I WILL NOT use the requested government records for a commercial purpose.

I AM NOT seeking records in connection with a legal proceeding.

Records requested:

As stated in the minutes of the March meeting of the Shade Tree Commission. The “list of locations around town that residents had concerns about trees in the right of way.” This list was distributed by Superintendent Hastrup to the Commission. Please include the Arborists recommendations which is also stated in the minutes.

My preferred delivery method for response(s) to this request is by E-mail as attachments. Please confirm you have received this request. If you are not the custodian of records, please forward my request to that person and provide their email address to me for future reference.

Dear Mr. Michael,

In regards to your recent OPRA request pertaining to the "list of locations around town that residents had concerns about trees in the right of way", please find attached an excerpt of the March 16th Shade Tree Commission Meeting Packet information responsive to your request.

Please note that pursuant to Daniel's Law, certain record information was redacted (as per NJSA 2C:20-31.1 (c) and NJSA 56:8-166.1(a)(2).

The Shade Tree Superintendent does not have a separate document responsive to your request for "Arborists recommendations" (as the notes of the arborist were typed by the Shade Tree superintendent for the Meeting packet).

In regards to your email last night (see second attachment) regarding the timeliness of this OPRA response to you, the Government Records Council states on their website, "Under OPRA, the custodian must respond to an OPRA request "as soon as possible," but generally requestors must receive a response within seven (7) business days after receipt of a complete request." We received your request on Thursday, July 2nd. Seven business days is today, Tuesday, July 14th (the Township was off from work on Friday, July 3rd).

With best regards,

Patricia Donahue
