Dear Woodland Park Borough,
Please accept this electronic request for public records made under OPRA and the common law right of access. I am not required to fill out an official form or use a particular software platform to submit my request per NJSA 47:1A-6(f), which states that an email from a requestor including all of the information required on the adopted form shall suffice in place of a completed form as a valid government record request.
I HAVE NOT been convicted of any indictable offense under the laws of New Jersey, any other state, or the United States.
I WILL NOT use the requested government records for a commercial purpose.
I AM NOT seeking records in connection with a legal proceeding.
Records requested:
Copies of ALL invoices for all fire extinguisher, kitchen fire suppression and fire alarm services from 2020 to present.
My preferred delivery method for response(s) to this request is by E-mail as attachments. Please confirm you have received this request. If you are not the custodian of records, please forward my request to that person and provide their email address to me for future reference.
Yours faithfully,
Tony Michael
Mr. Michael,
My office is in receipt of your OPRA request inquiring about the following:
"Copies of ALL invoices for all fire extinguisher, kitchen fire suppression, and fire alarm services from 2020 to present."
Please be advised, your request requires clarification as it is overly broad and requires the custodian to "evaluate" which invoices match the description. under OPRA, a request must identify specific identifiable government records. Custodians are not required to conduct research or to identify which records might fit a general description, they are required to retrieve.
Also, "all invoices for services" requires a search through every voucher and purchase order for the last six years to determine which ones specifically relate to fire extinguishers or kitchen suppression.
Please clarify your request regarding the following:
From which specific department (e.g., "Invoices held by the Fire Department or Finance)
From which specific vendor (e.g., "Invoices from [Vendor Name])
From which specific location (e.g. Invoices for services at the Municipal Building)
Regarding your time frame (which is voluminous) (e.g. from January 2020 to the present)
Please narrow down your request, as it will help us retrieve the specific document(s) you are seeking. We will not process your request until we receive your response.
Thank you.
Respectfully,
Sandra Olivola,RMC/QPA/CMR
