Section 3b information on criminal offense

The request was successful.

Please accept this as my request for government records under both OPRA and the common law right of access. Thank you very much for your commitment to transparent government.

BACKGROUND:

Page 6 of the Brigantine Police Department's 2022 Internal Affairs (IA) Summary (available at link below) shows that a "theft" complaint was initiated by the Police Department against one of its employees and that the IA case is "pending from prior years." In his March 31, 2023 letter to requestor (also available at link below), Attorney George M. Morris informed requestor that no criminal charges have yet to be filed and that the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office is investigating. I am seeking to learn the N.J.S.A. 47:1A-3(b) information on this incident.

RECORDS REQUESTED:

For the incident described above, I would like "information as to the type of crime, time, location and type of weapon, if any."

Sweeney, Lynn,

Mr. Paff,

Pursuant to your March 31, 2023 request pursuant to N.J.S.A> 47:1A-3 seeking "information as to the type of crime, time, location ant type of weapon, if any" the City provides the following:

Type of crime: Potential Theft
Time: Unknown
Location: City Police Department
Type of Weapon: None

This completes your OPRA request.

On a personal note, I was wondering how your home fared in Hurricane Ian? I was in Punta Gorda a few weeks ago and noticed many homes with damage and tarps on their roofs. We have a home in Matlacha on Pine Island and it was destroyed. We are beginning the process of rebuilding. Fortunately, we are all safe.

We did fine, just minor damage. Dodged a bullet. Many of our neighbors still have blue tarps. Sorry to hear about your loss.

Yours sincerely,

John Paff

Sweeney, Lynn,

Good to hear. It is still so sad.
Thanks,
Lynn
