Request for Open Code Violations – 07/30/2025 to 08/13/2025 – Property Maintenance, Structural, Grass, Weeds, Lead Hazards (Excel Format)
Dear Highland Park Borough,
Please accept this electronic request for public records made under OPRA and the common law right of access. I am not required to fill out an official form or use a particular software platform to submit my request per NJSA 47:1A-6(f), which states that an email from a requestor including all of the information required on the adopted form shall suffice in place of a completed form as a valid government record request.
I HAVE NOT been convicted of any indictable offense under the laws of New Jersey, any other state, or the United States.
I WILL use the requested government records for a commercial purpose. (Real Estate)
I AM NOT seeking records in connection with a legal proceeding.
Records requested: Code Violation List Request for 07/30/2025 to 08/13/2025. I kindly request a list of all UNRESOLVED or OPEN code violations (please do not include closed violations) for all properties in the city during this time period, specifically related to property maintenance, structural issues, tall grass, lead hazard, and weeds. Please include descriptions of the violations, property addresses, and violation dates. I also prefer for the document to be sent here in OPRA not in my email (sometimes it does not appear in my inbox) and I am specifically requesting that the data be provided in Excel spreadsheet format (.xlsx). Thank you so much.
My preferred delivery method for response(s) to this request is by E-mail as attachments. Please confirm you have received this request. If you are not the custodian of records, please forward my request to that person and provide their email address to me for future reference.
Yours faithfully,
Mariya

Dear Scott Brescher,
Thank you for your response to my OPRA request and for providing the Excel file. However, the document provided is not in a sortable spreadsheet format as requested. The data appears in a format that prevents me from sorting and filtering the entries by property address, violation type, or date.
As specified in my original request, I am requesting that the data be provided in an Excel spreadsheet (.xlsx) format with each field in its own column, including:
Property Address
Violation Description
Violation Date
Status (open/unresolved)
Owner's Name (if possible)
This structure will allow me to sort and analyze the records. Please provide the corrected file in this format.
I greatly appreciate your assistance and thank you in advance for your attention to this clarification.
PS: if you can add new violations that will cover until to date that is highly appreciated.
Yours faithfully,
Mariya

Dear Scott,
Thank you for providing the corrected file in the requested Excel format. I appreciate your assistance in ensuring the data was delivered in a sortable, column-based structure.
This satisfies my OPRA request, and I will consider the matter closed.
