Request for email logs
Dear Long Beach Township,
This is a request for public records made under OPRA and the common law right of access. I am not required to fill out an official form. Please acknowledge receipt of this message.
Records requested:
1. Request copies of email logs for the municipality's Chief of Police Bradley and Captain/Chief Deely from January 01, 2016 to June 28, 2020. Please include sender, recipient, date and subject.
2. Request copies of email logs for Officers Kevin Mahon, Michael Brennan, Edward Bernhard, from January 01, 2016 to June 28, 2020. Please include sender, recipient, date and subject.
3. Request copies of email logs for the all Township Commissioners from January 01, 2012 to June 28, 2020. Please include sender, recipient, date and subject.
5. Request copies of email logs for the Deborah Bonicky from January 01, 2016 to June 28, 2020. Please include sender, recipient, date and subject.
Please see the Paff v. Township of Galloway Supreme Court decision from 2017, which holds these as valid OPRA requests.

Good morning,
In response to your OPRA requests, please be advised that as a result of the Statewide and local emergencies relating to COVID-19, the deadline to respond has been extended past the seven (7) business day requirement. Nevertheless, the Township is in the process of reviewing your various requests and preparing a response. Please be further advised that in addition to the emergency-related delay, the Township requires additional time within which to respond due to the extensive scope or your requests and expects to have a response to you on or before July 22, 2020. Of course, should the Township require additional time past that date, the Township will advise.

The Township is working diligently with the Police Department and its IT personnel to see if obtaining these records is technically possible. The Township expects to have an updated response on this issue by the end of next week. In addition, if the emails can be obtained with the information technology possessed by the Police Department, please be advised that certain details set forth within such emails may be subject to required redactions in accordance with exceptions set forth in OPRA, including, but not limited to, the attorney-client privilege, attorney-work-product doctrine, the personnel records exception, and protected personal information, etc. Please be further advised that given the scope of the request a special service charge will likely be required to review and redact the emails. In such an event, a good faith estimate of the special service charge will be provided and authorization and deposit will be required prior to the performance of any work.

I have not received the requested information. This is a common request in OPRA machine from many municipalities where no fee is charge nor expert needed. Why is Long Beach Township different, and when can I expect the requested information?
