Police officer appeal and section 10 information
Please accept this as my request for government records under both OPRA and the common law right of access. Thank you very much for your commitment to transparent government.
RECORDS REQUESTED:
According to the Highland Park Police Department's 2022 Internal Affairs Summary, a Neglect of Duty charge was sustained against an officer and the officer appealed. For this officer and instance of discipline, I would like:
1. His or her "name, title, position, most recent annual salary, length of service, date of separation and the reason therefor." (See N.J.S.A. 47:1A-10) or as much as this information that can be lawfully disclosed.
2. The lawsuit or administrative filing by which the officer perfected his or her appeal.
3. The order, dismissal, settlement agreement or other writing, if any, that resolved the appeal.
I ask that you please redact any Daniels Law information from any records disclosed.
Attached please find the original OPRA request date 2-21-2023 and the
response.
