OPRA request - Use of force reports 2017-2019
Dear Livingston Township,
This is a request for public records made under OPRA and the common law right of access. I am not required to fill out an official form. Please acknowledge receipt of this message.
Records requested:
All use of force reports completed by the police department from January 1st 2017 to December 31st, 2019.

The Township of Livingston's Clerk Department is temporarily closed to the public until further notice. The Clerks Department is fully functional, however it might take us a little longer than normal to respond. Please note: If you are submitting an OPRA request, pursuant to P.L. 2020 Ch 10, OPRA deadlines are inapplicable during a State of Emergency and that record custodians " must make a reasonable effort, as the circumstances permit to respond to a request for a government record within 7 business days or as soon as possible." In short, we will respond as quickly as we can under the current circumstances.

This comes in response to your OPRA Request received on May 28, 2020 for:
" All use of force reports completed by the police department from January
1st 2017 to December 31st, 2019. "
Please find attached the Use of Force Reports for 2017. Where the name of
the subject has been redacted on the reports that pertain to Domestic
cases, Juvenile cases, Crisis Intervention, Mental Health, Mental
Disability or Suicidal pursuant to NJSA 47:1A-1, "A public agency has a
responsibility and an obligation to safeguard from public access a
citizen's personal information with which it has been entrusted when
disclosure thereof would violate the citizen's reasonable expectation of
privacy." None of the Officer Information has been redacted.
As these records are being emailed to you there is no cost for duplication
pursuant to the Open Public Records Act.
The 2018 & 2019 Use of Force Reports will be sent separately as the files
are too large to email together.
