I am writing to request an internal review of Downe Township's handling of my OPRA request 'OPRA Request - Settlement for Nico Haines

On May 3, 2025, I submitted an OPRA request regarding documents related to the payout/settlement to Nico Haines, including insurance claims, police reports, and sobriety tests conducted from the accident Nico Haines was in, on Maple Ave in Dividing Creek, on the date of June 21st, 2024.

As of today, more than 7 business days have passed without any response, which is a violation of New Jersey’s Open Public Records Act (N.J.S.A. 47:1A-1 et seq).

Please be advised that if I do not receive a response within 3 business days, I will escalate this matter to the Government Records Council and/or pursue legal remedies.

Thank you for your response regarding my OPRA request submitted on May 3, 2025, and for notifying me of your request for an extension under N.J.S.A. 47:1A-5.i. I acknowledge your new proposed response deadline of Friday, May 23, 2025.

While I understand that certain requests may require additional time, I would like to emphasize that the records requested are of significant public interest and time sensitivity. If any portion of the responsive records is already available, I respectfully request that those be provided on a rolling basis prior to the final deadline.

Please note that I am documenting all correspondence and timelines related to this request. If no response is received by the close of business on May 23, I will proceed with filing a complaint with the Government Records Council or pursue other remedies permitted under OPRA.
