Opra request Invoice
Dear Warren County,
Please accept this electronic request for public records made under OPRA and the common law right of access. I am not required to fill out an official form or use a particular software platform to submit my request per NJSA 47:1A-6(f), which states that an email from a requestor including all of the information required on the adopted form shall suffice in place of a completed form as a valid government record request.
I HAVE NOT been convicted of any indictable offense under the laws of New Jersey, any other state, or the United States.
I WILL NOT use the requested government records for a commercial purpose.
I AM NOT seeking records in connection with a legal proceeding.
Records requested:
Copies of ALL invoices for all fire extinguisher and fire alarm services from 2019 to present
My preferred delivery method for response(s) to this request is by E-mail as attachments. Please confirm you have received this request. If you are not the custodian of records, please forward my request to that person and provide their email address to me for future reference.
Yours faithfully,
Tony Michael
Dear Mr. Michael,
We find your request for Warren County, NJ government records – “Copies of ALL invoices for all fire extinguisher and fire alarm services from 2019 to present” – to be overly broad. According to the NJ Government Records Council, a broad and/or unclear request fails to name specific government records, or requires the custodian to conduct research. A request of this magnitude definitely requires research.
Can you narrow it down?
With respect to providing the actual invoices, that would entail extensive digging through files - some in storage offsite – retrieving them and copying them, going back almost seven years. Having an employee do this work would likely incur a special service charge.
The good news is that for the fire extinguisher component, we should be able to provide data to satisfy you. Our Accounts Payable Department has created a vendor report that provides all the information that should interest you, such as vendor name and contact information, invoice numbers, invoice dollar amounts, check numbers, date paid and a brief description of the service provided. A sampling of the report is attached. Please confirm that this will suffice, and we will provide the full report.
We utilize a single vendor for fire extinguisher services, but fire alarm services are more complex. There are at least nine different vendors, and often there are other security services bundled in with fire alarm services. Please clarify what precisely you are seeking.
