OPRA request directed to “Project Graduation”
Dear Wallkill Valley Regional High School,
Please accept this electronic request for public records made under OPRA and the common law right of access. I am not required to fill out an official form or use a particular software platform to submit my request per NJSA 47:1A-6(f), which states that an email from a requestor including all of the information required on the adopted form shall suffice in place of a completed form as a valid government record request.
I HAVE NOT been convicted of any indictable offense under the laws of New Jersey, any other state, or the United States.
I WILL NOT use the requested government records for a commercial purpose.
I AM NOT seeking records in connection with a legal proceeding.

As there appears to be no current discoverable email address for this entity this request is directed to WVRHS BOE members Cynthia Rock and Traci Dressner as the organizers of WVRHS Project Graduation to make public all financial records for WVRHS “Project Graduation” to include all financial disclosures/statements, fund raising methods, proceeds and matching deposits, receipts for expenses paid, associated accounts used in gathering and dispensing of funds raised, disposition of left over funds designated for “Project Graduation” program for the years 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2023, 2023 as required by statute N.J.S. 47:1A-1 et seq.
My preferred delivery method for response(s) to this request is by E-mail as attachments. Please confirm you have received this request. If you are not the custodian of records, please forward my request to that person and provide their email address to me for future reference.

Hello,
We don’t believe that the financial records requested are subject to
public access under OPRA, as they are not records that are maintained in
the regular course of business nor are they related to an event that is
organized by the public school district. Although members of the BOE
organize the event, project graduation is not an event that is funded by
or organized by the Wallkill Valley school district. The Board of
Education Members plan, organize, and pay for project graduation in a
private capacity, and therefore the requested financial records are not
subject to public access under OPRA.
