OPRA: Purchase invoice of body worn cameras for the police department

We're waiting for Taeho Kim to read recent responses and update the status.

Dear South River Borough,

This is a request for public records made under OPRA and the common law right of access. I am not required to fill out an official form. Please acknowledge receipt of this message.

Records requested:

1. Total number of body cameras currently deployed in the police department.

2. Date on which body cameras were deployed to any of the police officers for the first time (year and month).

3. Invoice of body cameras purchase (if body cameras were purchased).

Yours faithfully,

Taeho Kim

Bill Bray, South River Borough

The Borough has received you OPRA request. OPRA requires requestors to ask for identifiable public records. OPRA does not allow requestors to ask questions. Items 1 and 2 listed below are questions and not requests for identifiable records. Therefore, these items are not proper requests and are denied. The Borough will provided the invoices, if there are any, for any body cameras purchased by the police department.

Borough of South River

Dear Bill Bray,

I would like to provide a more specific document request for items 1 and 2 (if you need). Please provide the following documents that are completed in the first month of deployment of body worn cameras (BWCs):

- Body Worn Total Activity Report (which generates members' BWC activation activity)
- Body Worn Camera review report (performed by supervisors; one in the first month of deployment is fine)

If there is a more efficient way to know the first deployment date (a better document that has this information) please advise.

Thank you!

Bill Bray, South River Borough
