Redactions have been made over a private address, private phone numbers and FEIN numbers. A public agency has a responsibility and obligation to safeguard from public access a citizen’s personal information with which it has been entrusted when disclosure thereof would violate the citizen’s reasonable expectation of privacy. N.J.S.A. 47:1A-1 et seq. Additionally, redactions have been made over names in order to protect those persons requesting anonymity under Daniel’s Law. Daniel’s Law is a New Jersey statute that provides a means for certain public servants to request the redaction of certain personal information from public-facing State, county, and municipal websites. The full text of the law can be found at P.L. 2021, c. 371 (A6171 2R CC) (njleg.gov). The redaction of information does not imply that said redacted information belongs to an individual who may have requested anonymity under Daniel’s Law.
