Dear Spring Lake Board of Education,

Please accept this electronic request for public records made under OPRA and the common law right of access. I am not required to fill out an official form or use a particular software platform to submit my request per N.J.S.A. 47:1A-5(f), which states that an email from a requestor including all of the information required on the adopted form shall suffice in place of a completed form as a valid government record request.
I HAVE NOT been convicted of any indictable offense under the laws of New Jersey, any other state, or the United States.
I WILL NOT use the requested government records for a commercial purpose.
I AM NOT seeking records in connection with a legal proceeding.
Records Requested:

Any and all responses, replies, or reply-chain communications from Captain Timothy Giblin, his superiors, or any other Spring Lake Police Department or Borough of Spring Lake personnel to Superintendent LaValva's email dated May 5, 2024, with the subject line "Tension in the HW Mountz School Community - Confidential," including any emails, text messages, or other written communications responsive to or continuing the thread initiated by that email.

Any and all written communications — including emails, text messages, and internal memoranda — between Superintendent LaValva and Noelle Giblin, President of the Spring Lake Board of Education, from May 1, 2024 through May 31, 2024, concerning or referencing the subject matter of the May 5, 2024 email, including but not limited to escalating tensions between school families, safety concerns, firearms reports, parental conflicts, or the planning of any meeting with parents.

Any district policy, protocol, directive, or written guidance in effect as of May 5, 2024, establishing the procedure by which the Superintendent or other district administrators are to contact the Spring Lake Police Department, including but not limited to any document identifying the designated point of contact within the police department for school safety matters, and any document explaining the chain of command or protocol for reporting safety concerns to law enforcement.

Any written communications — including emails, text messages, or memoranda — between Superintendent LaValva and Timothy Giblin's superiors, from May 1, 2024 through May 31, 2024, concerning school safety, parental conflicts, or any meeting at H.W. Mountz School, separate from or in addition to the May 5, 2024 email already produced.

Any written communications — including emails, text messages, or memoranda — between Noelle Giblin and Captain Timothy Giblin sent or received using any district-issued email address, device, or account from May 1, 2024 through May 31, 2024.
