MVA Reports from 3/30/20 to 4/20/20
Dear East Orange City,
This is a request for public records made under OPRA and the common law right of access. I am not required to fill out an official form. Please acknowledge receipt of this message.
Records requested:
MVA Reports- 3/30/2020 to 4/20/20
Yours faithfully,
Sandra C. Alves
Good morning,
Is there a specific police report that you need? Right now City Hall is
officially closed and there is limited staffing. At this time, the Police
Department has not provide this office with multiple accident reports and
I cannot determine when it will be available. Also, if you’re looking to
ascertain multiple reports on a monthly basis, the Clerk requires a $5.00
deposit to ensure that you will purchase the documents. There are
normally 500 pages+ worth of reports and we have been unable to email the
large volumes. Please advise whether you request a specific report or if
you’re looking to acquire batches of accident reports. Thank you for your
attention in this matter.
Best,
Dale A. Forde

Dear Forde, Dale,
how do we go about to pay the $5.00 dollars? we would be requesting this on a weekly or biweekly basis,
we could also pick up reports but we would rather get it by email if possible.
Yours sincerely,

Good morning,
You may make check or money order payable to the City of East Orange and can be sent to
Office of the City Clerk
City of East Orange
44 City Hall Plaza
East Orange, NJ 07017
Once we are in receipt of check, we will apply the $5.00 credit to the next monthly batch we receive from the Police Department and it will be applied to that balance.
Again, the Office has not be in receipt of police reports since City Hall was officially closed and I do not foresee this Office receiving any reports until City Hall is officially reopened. Normally, we receive reports on a monthly basis, not weekly or bi-weekly. The process is when the reports are available, I will notify your office and someone can pick them up and pay the balance at the same time. At that time, the submission of another OPRA request will ensure you will receive notification of receipt of the next month's batch of reports.
If/when I'm in receipt of said deposit, I will make note that you will be notified once operations are back to normal. Thank you for your attention in this matter.
Best,
Dale A. Forde

Good morning Ms. Alves:
I am in receipt of your $5.00 check as deposit for police reports. It indicates it is for weekly reports. Please refer to my original email sent to you on May 1, 2020 and explained via our phone conversation regarding monthly, not weekly, reports and that the City has not received any reports since City Hall was officially closed on March 16, 2020. I will not deposit this check until I am in receipt of an email from you acknowledging that you understand the process which was explained over the phone and in my prior email. Thank you for your attention in this matter and please continue to remain healthy and be safe!
Best,
Dale A. Forde

Dear Forde, Dale,
Sorry about that, yes I'm aware that reports are monthly.
Yours sincerely,
