Governor's Office Personnel
Dear Office of the Governor,
Please accept this electronic request for public records pursuant to the New Jersey Open Public Records Act and the common law right of access. In accordance with N.J.S.A. 47:1A-6(f), I am not required to submit this request using a specific form or software platform, and this email constitutes a valid OPRA request.
I have not been convicted of any indictable offense under the laws of the State of New Jersey, any other state, or the United States. I am not seeking these records for a commercial purpose, nor am I requesting them in connection with any legal proceeding.
Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 47:1A-10, certain personnel information is expressly designated as a government record subject to public access. This includes an individual’s name, title, position, salary, payroll record, length of service, date of separation, and the reason therefor.
This interpretation was reaffirmed by the New Jersey Supreme Court in Libertarians for Transparent Government v. Cumberland County (March 7, 2022). In that decision, the Court held that when personnel records contain information expressly identified in N.J.S.A. 47:1A-10 as public, that information must be disclosed, with redaction applied only as necessary to withhold non-disclosable material.
Accordingly, I request records sufficient to identify all individuals hired into the Office of the Governor during Governor Sherrill’s administration, beginning January 20, 2026, through the present date. For each individual, please provide the individual’s full name, official title, position held, start date, current or starting salary, and payroll status. For any individual hired during this period who has since separated from service, please also provide the date of separation and the reason therefor, to the extent such information is designated as a government record under OPRA. This request is limited to hires into the Governor’s Office and does not seek records related to other executive branch agencies or departments.
My preferred method of delivery is by email, with responsive records provided as electronic attachments. Please confirm receipt of this request. If your office is not the custodian of the requested records, please forward this request to the appropriate custodian and provide that individual’s contact information for future reference.
Yours faithfully,
OPRA Requestor
Good morning,
I am seeking an extension to respond to your request for an additional 7 days, as I have recently assumed this role, and am actively working on this request.
Thank you,
