Environmental Records
Dear Northfield City,
This is a request for public records made under OPRA and the common law right of access. I am not required to fill out an official form. Please acknowledge receipt of this message.
Records requested:
EnviroSure is conducting a Phase I ESA at 1333 New Road (Block 42; Lot 1.02). In that regard, we are requesting a search of all files pertaining to the property. Especially, underground storage tanks, environmental concerns, building permits and ownership records.
Thank you.

EnviroSure, Inc.
Good Morning, Valerie,
I am in receipt of your OPRA / Common Law Right of Access request regarding 1333 New Road (Block 42; Lot 1.02) as follows: “a search of all files pertaining to the property. Especially, underground storage tanks, environmental concerns, building permits and ownership records. “
Please be advised that much of your request is overly broad and does not meet the requirement for a valid OPRA / Common Law request in that you have not identified, in most cases, a specific record being sought.
We are happy to assist with requests for government records, but for the most part, I do not know what specific records you are seeking. We cannot perform research for those who do not know what they are looking for, and requests for information are not considered valid, nor are those that request a search of 'all files'. It is not effective, and certainly inaccurate, for me to guess at what records you may be seeking - I would not want to unintentionally overlook something.
I will break your request down into individual components:
1. search of all files
You have not identified a record; this portion of your request is denied. Please identify a specific government record and we will be happy to proceed.
2. Especially, underground storage tanks, environmental concerns
Again, you have not identified a record. Please identify a specific government record and we will be happy to proceed.
In an effort to assist you, I have checked the files my office maintains regarding information received from the NJDEP as related to hazardous materials spills and contamination. No records exist in my files.
3. building permits
Based on your #2, above, are you seeking building permits related to installation or removal of underground storage tanks?
If so, please provide a date range and I will forward your request to our construction department.
If you are seeking some other type of permit please clarify
if you are seeking all building permits, please also clarify
In all cases we will need a date range, please.
4. ownership records
You have not identified a specific record, however I have attached here the current property record card for block 42 lot 1.02. If there is some other record being sought, please let me know.
The balance of your request is on hold pending your response.
Kind Regards,
Mary Canesi RMC, CPM
