Organization form 2020-present.

Your request is denied for the following reasons:

1) There is no EMS contract between the Maple Shade First Aid Squad and the Township. The Maple Shade
First Aid Squad is a volunteer squad formed independently from the Township with its own trustees and elected
Officers and is completely independent from control by the Township. It is not subject to OPRA. See, e.g. Brooks v. Tabernacle Rescue Squad, Docket No. A-4685-13T1 (N.J. Super. App. Div. July 1, 2015)

2) Your request is a request for information...A request pursuant to the Open Public Records Act, NJSA 47:1a-1 et seq. ("OPRA") must identify the records sought with specificity. Bart v. Passaic County Pub. Hous. Agency, 406 N.J. Super. 445, 451 (App. Div. 2009).

If your request for access to a government record has been denied or unfilled within the seven (7) or (14) business days required by law, you have a right to challenge the decision by the responding agency to deny access. At your option, you may either 1) institute a proceeding in the Superior Court of New Jersey; or 2) file a complaint with the Government Records Council (GRC) by completing the Denial of Access Complaint Form. All questions reqarding complaints filed in Superior Court should be directed to the Court Clerk in your County.
