Dear Karen Stallings,
You state that there is no written record of separation. However, you state the reason is “retired”. If there is no written record how can you know that. Also, in NJ when a Police Officer leaves his/her position a written record must be created and submitted to the civil service commission.

Retirement paperwork is filed by the employee through the NJ State Division of Pension and benefits website not through the Township and anything the Township receives from NJ Division of pension and Benefits is put in the Employees personnel record which is exempt from disclosure as per N.J.S.A. 47:1A-10 23)
