Dear Jeff Godfrey,
Thank you for the information. I have a question pertaining to DPW. Are there job descriptions of the different levels of laborers? Or can you tell me how one can go from a laborer 5>4>3>2>1?
Also do you have current CBA for DPW?
Yours sincerely,
Marc Possoff
Marc,
We are currently negotiating a new CBA as it expired on 12/31/2021. I can send you the agreement if you like. One of the issues in discussion is just that issue, how one moves through the pay grades. Currently it is upon recommendation of the superintendent. The union is asking for one based on years of service.
If you would like the expired CBA, let me know and I can get it out tomorrow.
Best regards
Jeff

Jeff if possible would you be able to provide what a laborer 1 - 5 is? For example what level laborer is required to have a CDL Class B as the minimum.
Yours sincerely,
Marc Possoff
Marc,
The job description for all laborer classes is the same, we encourage all to get a CDL but it’s not required. The benefit of getting it is when assigned as a driver, they would get a higher driver rate for those hours while driving.

Depends on what laborer rate the person is. For example, If a 4th class laborer was assigned to trash packer helper, they would go from 22.20 p/hour to 34.57 p/hr.
You should have all the rates and classifications on an attachment on the last few pages of the CBA.
