Emails about Body Cameras
Dear Glen Rock Police Department,
This is a request for public records made under OPRA and the common law right of access. I am not required to fill out an official form. Please acknowledge receipt of this message.
Records requested:
Emails about Body Cameras or Body Cams or BC
Yours faithfully,
Anonymous
Good evening,
As submitted, your OPRA request is denied. A proper request under OPRA must identify with reasonable clarity those documents that are desired (Bent v. Stafford Police Department, 381 N.J. Super. 30, 37 (App. Div. 2005)). To determine whether requests for e-mails meet this requirement, the Government Records Council established specific criteria that must be met by the requestor in order for that individual’s request to identify specific government communications. The GRC determined that to be valid, the request must contain:
(1) the content and/or subject;
(2) the specific date or range of dates during which the email(s) were transmitted; and
(3) the identity of the sender and/or the recipient thereof.
Therefore, in addition to the subject of the emails, you must submit a date range, and sender and/or recipient of the emails being requested.
Thank you,
Sgt. Trover
