Curriculum Planning Records (2025-2026)
Please accept this electronic request for specific public records made under OPRA and the common law right of access. I have not been convicted of any indictable offense, I will not use the requested records for a commercial purpose, and I am not seeking records in connection with a legal proceeding.
The requestor seeks copies of records related to the development and identification of curriculum materials for implementation during the 2025-2026 School Year.
Section 1: Time Frame of Records
This request is strictly limited to records generated during the following date range: Start Date: May 1, 2025 End Date: October 31, 2025
Section 2: Specific Records Requested
The requestor seeks copies of the following documents prepared by or for the Director of Research, Planning and Evaluation, Heather DeGrandis:
Curriculum Writing Plan & Personnel: Copies of the drafts and final versions of the 2025 Summer Curriculum Writing Plan document (or similarly named annual plan) that outlines the specific subjects, grade levels, and/or courses targeted for development, revision, or adoption for implementation in the 2025-2026 school year. This includes any attachments, addendums, or accompanying staffing lists that identify the individuals assigned to write/revise the curriculum for each subject or course.
Curriculum Adoption/Revision List: Copies of any drafts or final documents (e.g., reports, lists, or proposals) that explicitly identify specific K-12 curriculum materials (e.g., subjects, programs, textbooks) formally recommended or proposed for adoption or major revision during the 2025-2026 school year.
Section 3: Delivery and Withholding Justification
My preferred delivery method for response(s) to this request is by E-mail as attachments.
In the event that the Custodian of Records determines that any responsive records, or any portion thereof, are exempt from disclosure or subject to redaction under a claimed exemption, the requestor demands a comprehensive Vaughn Index (or Vaughn Report) for each record withheld or redacted. This index must identify, for each specific record:
The specific record withheld or redacted (e.g., email chain subject, date, sender, and recipients).
The legal basis for the exemption (the specific statutory citation under OPRA or case law).
A description of the record sufficient to understand its nature and context without disclosing the privileged content.
An explanation of how the exemption applies to that specific record or redacted portion.
Attached.
