Good afternoon,

I am in receipt of your OPRA request. Attached, please find a list of Sheriff's Department employees in 2012. However, regarding the remainder of your request, please be advised that the records no longer exist. Per the retention schedules, personnel documents are only maintained for 6 years after the employee leaves, regardless termination or otherwise. The employee in question separated from employment with the Sheriff's Department in 2012. As such, those records have been destroyed in accordance with the applicable retention schedule. In addition to this, any document outlining assignments of officers falls under a category of daily operations which has a retention of 3 years. For the same reason, those records no longer exist.

Please be advised that if you feel that this response has not been appropriate, you have the right to pursue a claim within 45 days with the Government Records Council or by filing suit in the Superior Court.
