I WILL NOT use the requested government records for a commercial purpose.

I AM NOT seeking records in connection with a legal proceeding.

The Hazlet Township Police Department received your Open Public Records
Act (OPRA) request on September 16, 2025. As such, the seven-business day
deadline to respond to your request is September 26, 2025.  This response
to your request is being provided to you on September 17, 2025.

Your request for body camera footage of all traffic stops performed by the
Hazlet Township Police Department for July 4, 2025 will need a substantial
amount of time to produce, which will require a special service charge of
approximately $2,077.15 pursuant N.J.S.A. 47:1A-5(c). The Hazlet Township
Police Department performed over 80 traffic stops for said date and the
body camera footage for each traffic stop requires redaction. The
procedure for redacting such footage takes approximately 30 to 60 minutes
per video. Once all redactions are made, all footage must be reviewed and
approved by a supervisor prior to release, this process takes
approximately 10 minutes per video.

If you are seeking a summary of all traffic stops for July 4, 2025
instead, one can be provided. Please advise on how you would like to
proceed with your request.

If your request for access to a government record has been denied or
unfilled within the seven to 14 business days required by law, you have a
right to challenge the decision by Hazlet Township to deny access. At your
option, you may either institute a proceeding in the Superior Court of New
Jersey or file a complaint with the Government Records Council (GRC) by
completing the Denial of Access Complaint Form.  You may contact the GRC
by toll-free telephone at 866-850-0511, by mail at P.O. Box 819, Trenton,
NJ, 08625, by e-mail at [1][email address], or at their web site at
[2]www.state.nj.us/grc. The GRC can also answer other questions about the
law.  All questions regarding complaints filed in Superior Court should be
directed to the Court Clerk in your County.
