Sean Nelson Boero

Dear OCPO_OPRA,

Thank you so much for the prompt, albeit very disturbing, response.

Zachary Slater was arrested on February 9, 2022 for sexual assault of one of his students that occurred over the course of her sophomore, junior and senior years while attending the Ocean County Vocational Technical School’s Performing Arts Academy in Lakehurst, NJ (2013-2018).

Zachary Slater resigned from the Ocean County Vocational Technical School on November 19, 2019.

On August 31, 2021 a brave little girl (victim) reported her abuse to the OCPO Special Victims Unit.

I do not see these crimes reported on the Ocean County Vocational Technical School Campus Security Report. It does not appear the Douglas Bollinger case made it to the security Report either.

If you could kindly make sure Prosecutor Billhimer and Chief of Detectives Carrington are made aware of this case. N.J.A.C. 6A:16-6.3(d) requires the school to report suspected sexual abuse to the police. Police work is easy, but you do have to show up. If it was not for the bravery and resiliency of a victim to report their own abuse in the Slater or Bollinger investigations we would never know about these cases.

The detectives in the OCPO Special Victims Unit are exceptional but they cannot investigate crimes if they are not reported to them.
