Dear Toms River Police Department,
Please accept this electronic request for public records made under OPRA and the common law right of access. I am not required to fill out an official form or use a particular software platform to submit my request per NJSA 47:1A-6(f), which states that an email from a requestor including all of the information required on the adopted form shall suffice in place of a completed form as a valid government record request.
I HAVE NOT been convicted of any indictable offense under the laws of New Jersey, any other state, or the United States.
I WILL NOT use the requested government records for a commercial purpose.
I AM NOT seeking records in connection with a legal proceeding.
Records requested:
1) Video recording of Dave Weigel at the Toms River Police Department on May 4, 2025 around 15:25.
2) Officer Corrigan badge #457 bodycam footage of his conversation with Dave Weigel on May 4, 2025 for report # 25-21561
3) Copy of the full Police report filed by Dave Weigel on May 4, 2025 including his LOCATION/ADDRESS as it is not a part of redactable information as per OPRA.
4) Video recording of Jason Samaritano at the Police Department picking up a copy of a police report on 5/06/2025 around 11:30AM.
5) Copy of your police departments policy regarding providing copies of police reports to members of the public that come in and request the reports.
6) Copies of your police departments policy regarding taking out of state police reports.
7) Copy of your police departments policy on taking reports regarding citizens of Berkeley Township.
My preferred delivery method for response(s) to this request is by E-mail as attachments. Please confirm you have received this request. If you are not the custodian of records, please forward my request to that person and provide their email address to me for future reference.

My original request was sent May 6th. We are well beyond the 7 days. I didn't receive any message telling me that you received my request and that you would be out of the office May 8th - 19th until I sent another request regarding that information. Dear Toms River Police Department,
Upon reviewing the BWC and reading the police report, I cannot help but notice some major discrepancies. Furthermore, the faces of the complainant, Dave Weigel and his father are completely redacted as well as their names being stated in the video, why? Please advise.

I spoke with the officer who takes care of the BWC's.
He said he looked again and there is no video.

Dear Mailot, Michael A.,
The ONE video that was received is the same one with Officer Corrigan and the Weigel's. However, he left them in the lobby and told them he would be returning with something. I have not received a copy of when he returned to them. I need all of it please. We have filed formal charges against them for this false report to law enforcement. Thank you for your time.
