Vehicles previously assigned to Chief of Police Derek Clark
Dear Pompton Lakes Borough,
Please accept this electronic request for public records made under OPRA and the common law right of access. I am not required to fill out an official form or use a particular software platform to submit my request per NJSA 47:1A-6(f), which states that an email from a requestor including all of the information required on the adopted form shall suffice in place of a completed form as a valid government record request.
I HAVE NOT been convicted of any indictable offense under the laws of New Jersey, any other state, or the United States.
I WILL NOT use the requested government records for a commercial purpose.
I AM NOT seeking records in connection with a legal proceeding.
Records requested:
This OPRA seeks responsive documents for the 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe (sticker price of $57,000 as on the 2025 Pompton Lakes Municipal Budget, Capital Plan page, “projects to be deferred to 2026” list), and whichever vehicle(s) were previously assigned to and utilized by Chief Derek Clark before said 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe was purchased for him.
-Purchase order or receipt of the vehicle which preceded the 2025 Chevy Tahoe, purchased for or assigned to Chief Clark.
1. Copies of mileage records by month for all vehicles assigned to and used by Chief Clark from 1/1/2021 to 7/3/2025.
2. Copies of toll record expenses for all vehicles assigned to and used by Chief Clark from 1/1/2021 to 7/3/2025.
3. Copies of fuel expenses for all vehicles assigned to and used by Chief Clark from 1/1/2021 to 7/3/2025.
4. Copies of registration expenses and insurance expenses for all vehicles assigned to and used by Chief Clark from 1/1/2021 to 7/3/2025.
5. Copies of vehicle maintenance/vehicle repair expenses for all vehicles assigned to and used by Chief Clark from 1/1/2021 to 7/3/2025.

The responsive documentation requires redaction before it can be released
which requires an “extraordinary expenditure of time and effort.
Based on our review the request will require approximately 2 hours of the
administrative assistant’s time at a hourly rate of $31.38 resulting in a
total estimated cost of $62.76.
In accordance with OPRA the Borough requires a 50% payment in advance
before work will begin, with the remaining balance due prior to release of
the responsive records.
