Vehicle Cost
Dear Manchester Township,
This is a request for public records made under OPRA and the common law right of access. I am not required to fill out an official form. Please acknowledge receipt of this message.
Records requested:
Please provide the cost for fuel and maintenance for each take home vehicle for the position of lieutenant and captain from January 1 2023 to current . Also please provide the amount of times these vehicles were used by a lieutenant or captain other than driving to and from work. ( emergency call out ) Also provide the contractual agreement or township policy that allows these vehicles to be used and paid for by the taxpayers.

In reference to your OPRA request, please see below.
"Please provide the cost for fuel and maintenance for each take home vehicle for the position of lieutenant and captain from January 1 2023 to current ." - Please see attached records responsive to your request. Please note redactions have been applied as per N.J.S.A. 47:1A-1.1. The vehicle identification is exempt from disclosure under N.J.S.A. 47:1A-1.1, safety and security.
"Also please provide the amount of times these vehicles were used by a lieutenant or captain other than driving to and from work. ( emergency call out )" - No records responsive to your request. No record of call outs is maintained.
"Also provide the contractual agreement or township policy that allows these vehicles to be used and paid for by the taxpayers." - I have included the contract for Superior Officers. A records custodian is not required to research files to figure out which records, if any, might be responsive to a broad and unclear OPRA request. If that is not the correct contract, please request the specific contact by name and that contract will be immediately released.

Thanks for your response. So you’re saying there are no records of when these vehicles are used for purposes other than driving to and from work?
Also you only provided the contract for the officers . Are these vehicles not governed by any policy or contract and given out arbitrarily at will to a chosen few? Is every officer afforded the opportunity to have a take home car as chosen by Chief Dolan at the taxpayers expense?
