Use on non-municipality building inspector
Dear New Jersey Department of Community Affairs, Division of Codes and Standards,
This is a request for public records made under OPRA and the common law right of access. I am not required to fill out an official form. Please acknowledge receipt of this message.
Records requested:
First:
A list of all licensed building inspectors in Union City, North Bergen, Guttenberg, Weehawken, and West New York. I am not looking for the people listed as head of specific building departments. I am looking for all people in those departments who hold licenses.
Second:
The exact citation from the NJ law and codes which gives the guidelines for hiring a non-municipal inspector to perform an inspection on a residence.
Please don't send me the link to your website. Not really helpful. Subsequently on July 7 I sent to you directly an OPRA request requesting the information above. I have not received answer.
I hope you will please honor this request and provide me with the information I am requesting.

The Division of Codes and Standards in the NJ Department of Community Affairs is in receipt of your request, C206078, in which you asked for licensed building inspectors for certain municipalities and citations in the regulations concerning non-municipal inspectors.
I have been provided the following information regarding licensed building inspectors for the referenced municipalities from the Office of Regulatory Affairs. The Office informed me that this list is based on what the municipalities have provided the Department and that they may not be current. The Office of Regulatory Affairs recommends sending OPRA requests to the municipalities for a more up-to-date list of licensed building inspectors.

Part two: The regulations which the Department has referencing non-municipal inspectors can be found in New Jersey Administration Code (N.J.A.C.) 5:23-4.12 through 4.14.
Additionally, the law citation governing the use of non-municipal inspectors can be found in New Jersey Statute (N.J.S.A.) 52:27D-124.
