Use of Force reports

The request was successful.

Dear Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office,

This is a request for public records made under OPRA and the common law right of access. I am not required to fill out an official form. Please acknowledge receipt of this message.
Records requested:

I recently received Use of Force Reports but appear that it is only for one year, 2020. I did not get the reports for 2017, 2018, 2019. Also I would like the report for each individual officer who used force during that time period.

Yours faithfully,

Red Rum

Jennifer Lipp, Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office

Use of Force Reports for Belmar 2017 2020.pdf

    150K View Download

Attached are the same 4 pages I provided to you last week, which includes Belmar's Use of Force Reports data for the years 2017 through 2020. As indicated last week, it's an end of the year report so we do not have 2021 data yet.

We do not have use of force reports for every officer of every town in Monmouth County. We only have use of force reports for cases in which indictable charges are filed against a defendant. If force was used during the arrest, then we are sent the report and we put it in a prosecution file. Accordingly, I cannot provide you a "report for each individual officer who used force during that time period." If you wish to submit a new request and provide more specific information, such as officer, date, town, I can try to fulfill your request.
