Dear Camden Board of Education,

Please accept this electronic request for public records made under OPRA
and the common law right of access. I am not required to fill out an
official form or use a particular software platform to submit my request
per NJSA 47:1A-6(f), which states that an email from a requestor including
all of the information required on the adopted form shall suffice in place
of a completed form as a valid government record request.

Dear OPRA Requestor –

The Camden City School District (“District”) is in receipt of your request
for records pursuant to the Open Public Records Act (“OPRA”), N.J.S.A.
47:1A-1, et seq, submitted electronically. Specifically, you requested the
following: “Copies of ALL invoices for all fire extinguisher, kitchen fire
suppression and fire alarm services from 2023 to present"

Please be advised that fulfilling this request will require a significant
amount of time and effort, as it involves locating, reviewing, and
compiling a large volume of records across multiple service categories and
time periods.
Pursuant to OPRA, the District may charge a special service fee when a
request requires an extraordinary expenditure of time and resources. Given
the scope of your request, such a fee will apply in this instance. The
District is currently in the process of determining the applicable costs
associated with fulfilling your request.
Additionally, due to the volume and nature of the records requested, the
District will make these records available for on-site inspection rather
than producing copies. Once the records have been compiled, we will
coordinate with you to schedule a mutually convenient time for you to
review them. If you wish to obtain copies of any records during your
inspection, additional copying fees will apply in accordance with OPRA.
Once the fee assessment has been completed, we will provide you with an
estimate for your review and approval prior to proceeding.

response, you have the right to appeal. OPRA permits a person who believes
he or she has been illegally denied access to a public record to file a

Please be advised that, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 47:1A-5(c), the District
anticipates that fulfilling your request will require an extraordinary
expenditure of time and effort to compile, review, and prepare the
responsive records. Accordingly, the District estimates that the special
service charge associated with your request will not exceed $663.52.
As previously shared, due to the volume and nature of the records
requested, the District will make these records available for on-site
inspection rather than producing copies. Once the records have been
compiled, we will coordinate with you to schedule a mutually convenient
time for you to review them. Please note that the estimate above does not
include any potential copying costs. If you choose to make copies of
materials while reviewing records onsite, additional copying fees may
apply in accordance with OPRA and District policy.
Work on your request may proceed upon your written acknowledgment and
acceptance of the estimated special service charge. If the actual cost is
less than the estimate, you will only be charged the actual amount
incurred. If the cost is expected to exceed the estimate, you will be
notified before additional work is completed.
