Salary for Rowan Administrators for FY 20-21
Dear Rowan University,
This is a request for public records made under OPRA and the common law right of access. I am not required to fill out an official form. Please acknowledge receipt of this message.
Records requested: Please supply the following data on Rowan administrators
a) Names of all administrators with titles of President, Provost, Dean, and each and every Vice President including but not limited to Assistant VP, Associate VP, Executive VP.
b) Exact title of each
c) FY20-21 Salary of each
d) Any additional salary paid during FY20-21 for each including the exact reason for extra salary paid

While the file you provided is helpful - it did NOT fully and honestly comply with our request.
Our request asked for d) Any additional salary paid to each during AY20-21 and the exact reason for the additional salary. This item was NOT responded to. Unless you are claiming that NOT one name on the list you sent us made any additional salary above and beyond the numbers you reported. If that is the case, please state so in writing.

I am legal counsel for the University and in that capacity, am responding
to your email below. Rowan has responded to the request in full. I
remain unclear as to the basis of your allegation that "Unless you are
claiming that NOT one name on the list you sent us made any additional
salary above and beyond the numbers you reported. If that is the case,
please state so in writing..." as the response excel document includes
four (4) individuals who received increases in salary (column "D"), each
with the explanation of having been promoted to a new position (column
"E"). The information was provided in an excel spreadsheet because that
is the way that Rowan maintains the information you have requested.

The request was simple and NOT responded to in full.
The spreadsheet listed the salaries of each individual BUT did NOT list any extra salary, bonuses or additional compensation that was paid to these employees during the AY20-21. If no such extra salary, bonuses or additional compensation was paid to these individuals then please state so in writing.
If such extra salary, bonuses or additional compensation above and beyond the listed data in the spreadsheet, please include such data. Administrations are OFTEN paid extra with substantial bonuses and additional compensation. Clearly the University has records of such and this is clearly in the scope of this OPRA request. You have the legal responsibility to response. If you continue to stonewall such a simple request, further action will be taken by us.

Dear Rowan Faculty 4 Transparency,
I have reviewed the request, and the response. I believe I have determined the root of your confusion. Please see attached an updated excel spreadsheet. As you will note, four (4) employees received a raise in their base salary due to promotions (Anthony Lowman; Mark Sedlock; Leonard Nelson; Sean Kennedy). There were only three individuals who received a bonus in the FY 20-21 (Ali Houshmand; Anthony Lowman; RJ Tallerida). These were not originally noted because all three donated the entirety of their bonus back to the University and therefore it was not considered to have been "received" by those individuals.
The attached document has been corrected to reflect the earned bonus, even though each individual donated the full amount back to the University and therefore did not "receive" same. Please feel free to reach out with any additional questions.
