Dear Anabela Da Silva,
Thanks for assisting with this request. I know I am probably the "exception to the rule" by declining to use the software platform the Township has purchased from a private corporation, so I appreciate you making an effort to work with me to fulfill my request. However, I had intended for this request to be addressed pursuant to the following statue: 39:4-131 Accident reports; availability.
Please note that the above statute makes clear that "Such written reports... and the information contained therein shall not be privileged or held confidential." Thus the redactions applied to the record are not appropriate.
I already sent a clarifying email to Lt. Fama making it clear I would like to inspect/copy the report pursuant to the above statute, and I'll wait to hear back from him. Perhaps he will require me to visit the department in person to obtain this record. Feel free to call me at 732-993-9697 if you'd like to discuss further, and I'll confirm with your office once I have the unredacted record in my possession.
