Request for Bodycam footage(FOIA)
Dear Essex County,
Under the authority granted by the New Jersey Open Public Records Act (N.J.S.A. 47:1A-1 et seq.), I am formally requesting the release of the below-mentioned body-worn camera and dashcam footage pertaining to the specific incident outlined below:

Officer Name & Badge Number:
1. Ofc Brewster (BCW #020470) = Bodycam + dashcam (patrol unit)
2. Ofc Belton (BCW #029210) = Bodycam
This request encompasses unedited footage from the above-mentioned officer's body-worn cameras and patrol vehicle dashcams involved in the referenced incident.
In compliance with the New Jersey OPRA, I expect a response to this request within seven business days as stipulated by state law. Failure to meet this deadline will result in my seeking judicial relief to enforce compliance under the statute.

In regard to your OPRA request the Sheriff’s office indicates :
No body cam or dash cam video to provide as: 1. The retention time has
expired and 2. Our previous storage system suffered an irrecoverable crash
in August 2021.
This request is now considered closed.
