Dear Clerk,
Does East Windsor Twp. require a new permit for replacing like in kind work?
For example the roof permit was closed in 2014, however the roofs were approximately replaced in 2017 and 2019 separately. Was a new permit required or was the previous one from 2014 sufficient because the repair was the same work as the original permit?

Hello, for some things that are a direct replacements there is no permit
required. For roofs, there were always a permit required but in 2018 the
state made changes that single family detached homes no longer require a
permit. However, townhomes, condos, and the like who share a roof with
another unit still require a permit. Some contractors confuse this (or
take advantage) and do not pull permits. If you have any further
questions regarding this, you can call the construction official (David
Larkin) 609-443-400 ext 202 and he can answer them for you.
