Dear Westwood Borough,
This is a request for public records made under OPRA and the common law right of access. I am not required to fill out an official form. Please acknowledge receipt of this message, and thank you for your consideration of the following matter.
Public records requested:
1. Addresses of all residential properties (Property Class 2) that are marked as vacant and/or abandoned
2. Addresses of all residential properties (Property Class 2) that are marked as condemned
3. Addresses of all residential properties (Property Class 2) that have had a notice of abatement issued, specifically from 1/1/2022 to the present day
4. Addresses of all residential properties (Property Class 2) that are fire damaged, specifically from 1/1/2022 to the present day
5. Addresses of all residential properties with delinquent property taxes, specifically for the past 2 quarters
6. Addresses of all residential properties with delinquent water and sewer bills, specifically for the past 2 quarters
7. Addresses of all residential properties with an active municipal owned lien
8. Addresses of all residential properties that have had a code enforcement compliant opened for high grass and/or junk/debris, specifically from 1/1/2022 to the present day
You may redact all confidential and personal information under N.J.S.A. 47:1A-1, but I am requesting the addressees of such properties. I am requesting the above public records in electronic form, preferably in Excel format.

1. The Borough do not currently make or maintain a list of residential properties that are marked as vacant and/or abandoned.
2. The Borough does not track residential properties that are marked as condemned. If you have a specific property in mind, please provide the address and the Building Department can check the file to determine if the property is considered condemned.
3. Due to a bereavement leave and scheduled vacations in the Building Department, I will need additional time to determine if the Property Maintenance Officer maintains a list of abatements. Abated matters are generally filed in the block and lot file, so I'd be surprised if there is a running list, but I am happy to inquire. I anticipate responding to this item on or before July 20th.
4. The Borough does not maintain a list of properties that have suffered fire damage. We are providing the dispatch log for the fire department from 1/1/2022 to the date of the request, and have included the CAD reports for those calls that were actual working fires so you can determine whether there are any instances that meet your criteria of fire damaged property.
5. Delinquent tax list attached.
6. Water and sewer are not provided by the Borough of Westwood. Information on those bills would need to be obtained from Veolia (water) and the Bergen County Utilities Authority (sewer).
7. List of municipal liens attached.
8. Due to a bereavement leave and scheduled vacations in the Building Department, I will need additional time to determine if the Property Maintenance Officer maintains either a running list of complaints opened for the year or a list of outstanding complaints. I anticipate responding to this item on or before July 20th.
