I thought that email referred to this specific request, when I do not know the page #

"Deed Book 1073/starts at unknown page. (dated 4/19/40; Decatur Realty Corp. to Edwin/Catherine Cummings)"

I can see how that one specific request would technically require additional research, but when I order the exact book & page #, those are not overly broad.

I will refrain from asking for deeds that require any additional research (those that I don't have the exact book & page number), however, the requests I send for specific deeds, such as the three above, do not qualify as "overly broad" and the attorney's letter about not requesting a specific document does not qualify in this case.

"OPRA specifically defines a government record as:
“… any paper, written or printed book, document, drawing, map, plan, photograph, microfilm,
data processed or image processed document, information stored or maintained electronically or
by sound-recording or in a similar device, or any copy thereof, that has been made, maintained
or kept on file … or that has been received in the course of his or its official business …”
(Emphasis added.) N.J.S.A. 47:1A-1.1.
Generally stated, a “government record” means any record that has been made, maintained, or
kept on file in the course of official business, or that has been received in the course of official
business.
OPRA covers more than just paper records. Under OPRA, a “government record” includes
printed records, tape recordings, microfilm, electronically stored records (including e-mails and
data sets stored in a database), books, maps, photographs, etc."

In closing, these three deeds below are specific requests for specific government records with no additional research needed to be done other than to send me a copy, as is required by law, so please send these three deeds:

I am writing to request an internal review of Ocean County Clerk's Office's handling of my OPRA request 'Property deeds'.

I asked for these three specific deeds on November 24. It is now December 14 and I have yet to receive them.

1. Deed Book 35/starts at pg. 63.
2. Deed Book 178/starts at pg. 205.
3. Deed Book 674/starts at pg. 321.

Please send the above 3 deeds as required by OPRA. This request is neither overly broad nor is it burdensome. The request identifies the exact 3 deeds needed. The copies should have been sent within 7 business days, or a need for an extension should have been emailed by the 7th business day. Neither happened.
