Porzio Law Firm Attorney Invoices November 1-December 31
Dear Monroe Township School District (Middlesex),
This is a request for public records made under OPRA and the common law right of access. I am not required to fill out an official form. Please acknowledge receipt of this message.
Records requested:
Attorney Invoices from the Porzio law firm broken down by charges
detailed by the hour/service provided for November 1-December 31, 2022
Please note this was not fulfilled properly for November, thus requesting once more as well as requesting for December. Please see the prior successfully completed OPRA request for this information for the September and October invoices. A similar format would be appreciated.

Dear Concerned Parents,
The Board is in receipt of your Open Public Records Act ("OPRA") request.
Specifically, your request sought:
“Attorney Invoices from the Porzio law firm broken down by charges
detailed by the hour/service provided for November 1-December 31, 2022”
Your request requires additional time to respond due to the need to review
potentially responsive records for confidential information and due to the
significant demands placed on the District with regard to the
exceptionally large number of OPRA requests the Board has received. OPRA
allows custodians to seek extensions of time pursuant to N.J.S.A.
47:1A-5(i). Specifically, OPRA states that “the requestor shall be advised
by the custodian when the record can be made available. If the record is
not made available by that time, access shall be deemed denied.”
Accordingly, your request requires an extension of time until March 10,
2023.
Regards,
Lisa Goldstein

Dear Lisa Goldstein,
I would like clarification.
- The district already has this information because it has been reviewed at committee meetings for finance.
- The district is paying over $40,000 for an employee specifically to handle these requests only whereas just over a year ago they were done by the business administrator for no additional cost.
- Yet now the district is demanding almost 45 days to send information that has already been discussed and members of the public are legally allowed to request and view?
This is not a document that would be hundreds of pages or should require redactions as taxpayer money is being used and people who pay taxes have a right to see how their money is being spent. Perhaps if documents cannot be sent in the allowed time frame it should go back to how it was previously handled.
Yours sincerely,
Concerned Parents
