Dear New Brunswick City,
Please accept this electronic request for public records made under OPRA and the common law right of access. I am not required to fill out an official form or use a particular software platform to submit my request per NJSA 47:1A-5(f), which states that an email from a requestor including all of the information required on the adopted form shall suffice in place of a completed form as a valid government record request.
I HAVE NOT been convicted of any indictable offense under the laws of New Jersey, any other state, or the United States.
I WILL NOT use the requested government records for a commercial purpose.

Dear Requestor:
My office is in receipt of your OPRA request dated April 15, 2026, and received the same.
After further review of your request, the incident report or any supplemental reports for
(25NB09444) pertain to a criminal investigation and, as defined by law, are exempt from
disclosure under O.P.R.A. (N.J.S.A. 47:1A-1.1 to -13) and supporting case law, including
Janeczko v. Department of Law and Public Safety (G.R.C. Complaint Nos. 2002-79 and 2002-80,
affirmed May 2004). These records remain exempt even after the investigation is closed, as
established in West Solloway v. Bergen County Prosecutor's Office (GRC 2011-39), Woojin Hwang
v. Bergen County Prosecutor's Office (GRC 2011-348), and Andrew Johnson/Press of Atlantic
City v. New Jersey Division of State Police (GRC 2004-46).
The New Brunswick Police Department has no records responsive to your request referencing
“arrest and/or booking report”.
Release of the motor vehicle accident report (NJTR1) will require payment of a $5.00 fee if
it is delivered via mail or email, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 39:4-131 and N.J.S.A. 47:1A-5(b)(1).
Alternatively, the report may be picked up in person upon payment of a fee of $0.05 per page,
as authorized by the statutes cited above.
