Dear Ridgefield Park Village,

Please accept this electronic request for public records made under OPRA and the common law right of access. I am not required to fill out an official form or use a particular software platform to submit my request per NJSA 47:1A-6(f), which states that an email from a requestor including all of the information required on the adopted form shall suffice in place of a completed form as a valid government record request.

I HAVE NOT been convicted of any indictable offense under the laws of New Jersey, any other state, or the United States.

I WILL NOT use the requested government records for a commercial purpose.

I AM NOT seeking records in connection with a legal proceeding.

Records requested:

Police Body worn camera footage of all motor vehicle accidents between 8-1 and 8-7-25

My preferred delivery method for response(s) to this request is by E-mail as attachments. Please confirm you have received this request. If you are not the custodian of records, please forward my request to that person and provide their email address to me for future reference.

The maximum authorized cost is $0.

Yours faithfully,

Tony Michael

Tara O'Grady,

Mr. Michaels:

You have made the following OPRA Request and Common Law Right of Access:

“Police body worn camera footage of all motor vehicle accident reports between 8-1 and 8-7-25”

I have been advised that there are approximately 10 automobile accidents during the dates you requested. There are a minimum of 2 police officers at each accident wearing a body camera. Before the video can be released to you, the officer in charge will be required to redact all personal qualifiers, i.e social security numbers, driver’s license numbers, identity of minors involved, etc.

I have been further advised that in order to release the footage, it will take approximately 20 hours of time to redact the personal information. Therefore, there will be a special service charge for the actual direct cost at the hourly rate of the lowest level employee capable of fulfilling the request and does not include fringe benefits. The officer in charge’s hourly rate is $90.44. Therefore, the approximate cost is $1,808.80.

If you wish to have the Village of Ridgefield Park proceed with your OPRA request, please remit payment of $1,808.80 to:

Village of Ridgefield Park
234 Main Street
Ridgefield Park, NJ 07660
Attn: Village Clerk

Thank you.
