Dear Mr. Mc Gorry,
Please be advised that the records sought by your most recent OPRA request, a list of the applicants names and emails addresses who have passed the November 16, 2019 police examination, still cannot be disclosed at this juncture. As your recent OPRA request observes, the Township is currently involved in a hiring process. The November 16, 2019 written exam is only one phase of that process. The Township will not disclose any information regarding the applicants during that process. Disclosure could taint the process, and provide an unfair advantage or disadvantage to applicants.
As noted in our response to your November OPRA request, once the entire process is completed, a hiring list will be published and certified with the Township Clerk’s office. At that point, the promulgated list will be a public record, and available for public inspection. Currently, the Township does not have a promulgated hiring list available for public review. We are advised that the Township hopes to have such a public hiring list promulgated sometime in 2020. Until then however, information pertaining to the ongoing hiring process would fall under the personnel records exemption to production (N.J.S.A. 47:1A-10), and is not disclosable at this time.
Thank you,
Maureen Connell
