Payment records for County Clerk defense
Dear Essex County Board of Elections,
This is a request for public records made under OPRA and the common law right of access. I am not required to fill out an official form. Please acknowledge receipt of this message.
Records requested:
(1) Invoices received by the Clerk's Office from January 2020 to the present for legal fees and other expenses related to the defense of the lawsuit entitled Conforti, et al. v. Hanlon, et al., Civil Action No. 20-08267, which lawsuit pertains to a challenge to the "grid" ballots used in New Jersey elections and use of a "county line" for endorsed candidates;
(2) Records of all payments made by the Clerk's Office or any entity/person on its behalf toward the invoices received in the Conforti v. Hanlon lawsuit, as referenced in request (1) above;
(3) Invoices received by the Clerk's Office from January 2024 to the present for legal fees and other expenses related to the defense of the lawsuit entitled Kim, et al. v. Hanlon, et al., Civil Action No. 20-08267, which lawsuit seeks a preliminary injunction prohibiting the use of "grid" ballots in New Jersey elections and use of a "county line" for endorsed candidates, and all invoices pertaining to an appeal of the judge's decision in such lawsuit; and
(4) Records of all payments made by the Clerk's Office or any entity/person on its behalf toward the invoices received in the Kim v. Hanlon lawsuit, as referenced in request (3) above.

I am writing to request an internal review of Essex County Board of Elections's handling of my OPRA request 'Payment records for County Clerk defense'.
On April 2, 2025 I requested the following records and have not heard anything:
(1) Invoices received by the Clerk's Office from January 2020 to the present for legal fees and other expenses related to the defense of the lawsuit entitled Conforti, et al. v. Hanlon, et al., Civil Action No. 20-08267, which lawsuit pertains to a challenge to the "grid" ballots used in New Jersey elections and use of a "county line" for endorsed candidates;
(2) Records of all payments made by the Clerk's Office or any entity/person on its behalf toward the invoices received in the Conforti v. Hanlon lawsuit, as referenced in request (1) above;
(3) Invoices received by the Clerk's Office from January 2024 to the present for legal fees and other expenses related to the defense of the lawsuit entitled Kim, et al. v.
