Dear River Edge Borough,
This is a request for public records made under OPRA and the common law right of access. I am not required to fill out an official form. Please acknowledge receipt of this message.
Records requested:
Fire Damage List
- A list of all property addresses that the fire department has received an emergency call to in the last 90 days.
Code Violation
- A list of property addresses that have received any code violations in the last 6 months
Vacant List
- A list of all properties that the city deems to be currently vacant or abandoned.

The Borough of River Edge Records Custodian received your new Open Public Records Act (OPRA) request on August 28, 2024 seeking a copy of the following documents:
• Fire Damage List - A list of all property addresses that the fire department has received an emergency call to in the last 90 days.
• Code Violation - A list of property addresses that have received any code violations in the last 6 months
• Vacant List - A list of all properties that the city deems to be currently vacant or abandoned.
As such, the 7th business day deadline to respond to your request is September 9, 2024. Therefore, the Borough is timely in responding to your request.
Your request requires additional time beyond the seven (7) business days to fulfill as we are still attempting to compile, review, and redact, if necessary, the requested records. OPRA allows custodians to seek extensions of time pursuant to N.J.S.A. 47:1A-5.i. Specifically, OPRA states that, “the requestor shall be advised by the custodian when the record can be made available. If the record is not made available by that time, access shall be deemed denied.”
Your request requires an extension of time until September 16, 2024. Please be advised that the Borough reserves the right to seek an additional extension if necessary.
