OPRA: Purchase invoice of body worn cameras for the police department
Dear Tenafly Borough,
This is a request for public records made under OPRA and the common law right of access. I am not required to fill out an official form. Please acknowledge receipt of this message.
Records requested:
1. Total number of body cameras currently deployed in the police department.
2. Date on which body cameras were deployed to any of the police officers for the first time (year and month).
3. Invoice of body cameras purchase (if body cameras were purchased).
Yours faithfully,
Taeho Kim
Good morning,
I am forwarding this request to Chief Chamberlain for his review and completion, as the Tenafly Police Department processes OPRA requests separately.
Sincerely,
Lissette Aportela
Taeho Kim,
The Tenafly Police Department does not have any body-worn cameras in operation. No records responsive to your request.
Chief Robert Chamberlain
Tenafly Police Department
Mr. Kim,
On June 5^th, I emailed you asking for clarity and more specific
information on what records you’re seeking with respect to eight years of
purchase orders for the department. To date, I haven’t received a response
from you. Your request is overly broad and needs sufficient clarity.
Additionally, the department hasn’t had the time to properly review the
requested documents due to the present demands on the department with
managing the COVID-19 health crisis.
To assist the department in identifying the purchase orders you’re in
search of, can you provide more specific information to help with that
endeavor.
As a result, I’m going to need an extension of time to await a response
from you while I continue to try to find the time to locate the records
you’re requesting. I will provide a response prior to the end of the
business day on June 25^th, 2020. You’re assistance in this matter would
be greatly appreciated.

Mr. Kim,
Due to the department’s focus and involvement with managing the ongoing

address and respond to your OPRA request sent on May 27^, 2020 for

to 2019….”. Today is the 7^th business day from your original request. I
will provide a response prior to the end of the business day on June
17^th, 2020.
Can you provide more specific information, i.e. body camera purchase
orders, police vehicle purchase orders, uniform purchase orders, etc. to
better assist me in locating the records you’re in search of from

Mr. Kim,
On June 16^th I emailed you requesting more specific information with
respect to your OPRA request asking “Please provide all purchase order
history for purchases by the police department from 2012-2019”. This was
the second request I made for more information that wasn’t answered. As a
result, your request is overly broad and being denied for failing to
identify the specific government records you were in search of as per NJSA
47:1A-1.
