1. A list of all lawsuits and cases in which any officer of the police department was involved between 2012 and 2019. For each lawsuit/case, please provide the date (month and year) of the alleged incident at issue, whether the alleged incident was excessive force, settlement amount (if any), and final compensation amount ruled (if any).
2. Please provide copies of the complaint in any lawsuits and cases described in above.

Please be advised that Part 1 of your request for “A list of all lawsuits
and cases in which any officer of the police department was involved
between 2012 and 2019. For each lawsuit/case, please provide the date
(month and year) of the alleged incident at issue, whether the alleged
incident was excessive force, settlement amount (if any), and final
compensation amount ruled (if any).” generally seeks unspecified
documents. It is well settled that the intention of OPRA is not to act as
a “research tool for requestors to force government officials to identify
and siphon useful information.” MAG Entertainment, LLC v. Division of
Alcoholic Beverage Control, 375 N.J. Super. 534, 546 (App. Div. 2005).
Rather, OPRA “simply operates to make identifiable government records
‘readily accessible for inspection, copying, or examination.’" Id. at 546
(emphasis added) (citing N.J.S.A. 47:1A-1).
If you wish to amend this portion of the request to identify specific
documents which may be responsive to your request, the Borough can then
potentially provide the same.
The Borough reserves the right to raise any additional objections,
exemptions, or other privileges in response to this request. Should you
disagree with this decision, you have the right to appeal. OPRA permits a
person who believes he or she has been illegally denied access to a public
record to file a complaint with the GRC, or file suit in Superior Court to
challenge the decision and compel disclosure. For more information, you

Dear Kelley Halewicz,
If it needs to be in document form, please provide the copies of the complaints in all lawsuits that involve any police officers in the police departments between 2012-2019.
Please provide all the invoice that show the amount the borough paid to settle/compensate in the lawsuits above.

This email is in response to your OPRA request for lawsuit/claims
involving police officers from 2012-2019. The claim report attached shows
three police cases over this time period. No claim went into suit,
therefore, I do not have any S&C to attach. There were no settlements in
any of the files.
Poppe: Police responded to 911 call; when they found victim – heart attack
– he was unresponsive and they could not revive him.
Simons: No suit
This is a husband and wife TRO. He had kids and was drinking. Charged
with endangering welfare of minor etc. Wife asked for Police assistance.
He was released same day the violated TRO that night calling her
repeatedly. Police arrested him again and put in jail; no bail.

Police officer made claim against Borough for criminal actions filed
against him in another town
