I am writing to request an internal review of Edison Township Police Department's handling of my OPRA request 'Officer Paone bodycam footage 4/13/24'.
I would like bodycam footage for officer Paone while working the NJ expo center on 4/13/24. This footage is requested for the entire shift working there and not edited start/stop times and preferably with audio or an explanation of why audio is not included during times when it isn’t covered under NJ state law.

Your explanation was provided to you on 5/15/24 via email regarding the reason for any redactions as seen below:
Be advised, due to citizen's expectation of privacy under NJSA 47:1A-1 "privacy interest," juveniles faces and other person's pedigree information (ie: address, D.L., phone number) were redacted from the footage. Under Common Law, all pedigree information pertaining to yourself was left un-redacted.
Regarding Officer Paone's video provided to you, the only audio that was redacted under Opra was around the 21 minute mark which involved a person's pedigree/medical information. Officer Paone's BWC appeared to be in a Buffering mode prior to activation where the camera will be capturing video but no audio up to 30 seconds, as seen in the beginning of the footage. You will also see this upon watching Officer Gonzalez's BWC footage as well. If an officer mutes a video on his own on scene (ie: as seen around the 18:30 minute mark in this case upon speaking to another officer), that is not a redaction and that audio cannot be retrieved. At this time, the full BWC provided to you is the only footage we have from Officer Paone regarding your incident. Again, your video contained redactions due to exemptions under Opra stated above.
