Off-duty police employment (road jobs

We're waiting for Eric to read a recent response and update the status.

Dear Rochelle Park Township,

Please accept this electronic request for public records made under OPRA and the common law right of access. I am not required to fill out an official form or use a particular software platform to submit my request per NJSA 47:1A-5(f), which states that an email from a requestor including all of the information required on the adopted form shall suffice in place of a completed form as a valid government record request.

I HAVE NOT been convicted of any indictable offense under the laws of New Jersey, any other state, or the United States.

I WILL NOT use the requested government records for a commercial purpose.

I AM NOT seeking records in connection with a legal proceeding.

Records requested:

Pursuant to the New Jersey Open Public Records Act (OPRA), N.J.S.A. 47:1A-1 et seq., I respectfully request copies of all records relating to off-duty police employment (road jobs, traffic control, construction details, utility details, private contractor details, or any other outside employment coordinated through the Rochelle Park Police Department) for the period of January 1, 2025 through the date this request is fulfilled.

Please provide the following records:

A complete list of every off-duty police assignment/road job during the requested time period.
The date of each assignment.
The location and/or address of each assignment.
The name of the contractor, utility company, developer, municipality, or entity requesting the off-duty police services.
The name and rank of each officer assigned to every detail.
The number of hours worked by each officer on each assignment.
The hourly pay rate paid to each officer for each assignment.
The total compensation paid to each officer for each assignment.
Any administrative or coordination fees charged by the Township for each assignment.
Any invoices submitted to contractors or outside entities for these services.
Any payments received from contractors or outside entities related to these assignments.
Any spreadsheets, logs, payroll records, assignment sheets, scheduling records, billing records, or reports maintained by the Police Department, Finance Department, or Township Administrator documenting these off-duty assignments.
Any policies, procedures, or directives governing the assignment, scheduling, compensation, billing, or administration of off-duty police employment that were in effect during the requested period.

To minimize duplication costs, I request that these records be provided in their native electronic format (Excel, CSV, PDF, or other electronic format) if available.

If any portion of this request is denied, please identify each record being withheld, specify the statutory exemption relied upon for the denial, and provide all reasonably segregable portions of otherwise exempt records.

Thank you for your assistance. I look forward to your response within the time period required under OPRA.

My preferred delivery method for response(s) to this request is by E-mail as attachments. Please confirm you have received this request. If you are not the custodian of records, please forward my request to that person and provide their email address to me for future reference.

Yours faithfully,

Eric
