North Bergen Police Chief Robert Farley's Compensation and Leave Balances
Dear North Bergen Township,
Please accept this electronic request for public records made under OPRA and the common law right of access. I am not required to fill out an official form or use a particular software platform to submit my request per NJSA 47:1A-5(f), which states that an email from a requestor including all of the information required on the adopted form shall suffice in place of a completed form as a valid government record request.

As a tax paying citizen of the Township of North Bergen, seeing the overtime list where one officer is near $30k alone, along with the town paying $134k to another officer specifically for sick and vacation time, really makes me wonder what the Police Chief’s payout is going to look like in the near future. These outlandish payouts need to be fully accounted for, so I am asking for Chief Robert Farley’s total yearly salary after adding in all his extra percentages, including college incentives and longevity. On top of that, please provide his current on-the-books balances for personal, vacation, compensatory, and sick days, as well as how many compensation days he earned so far in 2026 specifically to work details. I also need to know his year-to-date earnings for working off-duty details, his year-to-date overtime total, and whether any early terminal leave payments were disbursed to him in 2024, 2025, or 2026, along with the exact dollar amounts for those payments.

The Township of North Bergen (the “Township”) received your request dated 07/22/2026 under the New Jersey Open Public Records Act (“OPRA”), N.J.S.A. 47:1A-1 et seq.
You requested:

Your request for “on-the-books balances for personal, vacation, compensatory, and sick days” is denied pursuant to N.J.S.A. 47:1A-10.
